The products you see have been included in our catalogue after months of deliberation and we work our hardest to make sure their manufacturing is done in the most sustainable way possible.
Sustainability is a work in progress and we’re nowhere near perfect we'll be the first to admit that, but it is transparency that will move this industry forward.
For manufacturing sustainably we have three ground rules that we stick to -
- Rule 1: Make products using materials and processes that are good for the planet.
- Rule 2: Don’t be a dick and make someone else’s life miserable while doing it. Improve the lives of the people down the supply chain. If we grow we ensure everyone who works with us grows with us.
- Rule 3: Reduce waste on each step.
Packaging waste is a very visible part of the environmental issue.
The wastefulness of packaging is typically not noticed during purchase, transport, and use of the product - in fact, it is rarely ever noticed till the product is consumed, the package had fulfilled its function and turns into waste. It is at that minute, that packaging is seen as an environmental burden, a waste of resources.
To ensure that we do not add to the already mounting environmental issues, we have consciously designed biodegradable packaging. We try and use as much recycled paper as possible. The plastic used for packing and shipping out our products breaks down into organic matter after 180 days of being buried in the ground.

The apparel and footwear industries currently account for 8% of global greenhouse emissions, nearly as much as that of the entire European Union. By 2030, the climate impact of the apparel industry alone is forecasted to nearly match today’s total, annual US greenhouse gas emissions, emitting 4.9 gigatonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent.
We've consciously decided that we do not want to feed this beast. We do not want to be part of a culture that uses and throws perfectly good clothes just to accumulate more things. It is for this very reason that we do not make huge collections of seasonal apparel. Our collections are small and we continuously drop limited editions products made from sustainable plant fibers.
Considering our collections are small and out apparel is basic, we are often asked this one question - "Why is your stuff on the expensive side?"
The short answer is, when you make things with care, it costs a lot more.
It is important to stop and try to understand the true cost of the things you are buying. Sure, there is a price on that tag, but the cost of that shirt you're adding to your cart can be drastically different from brand to brand. More often than not, this is what separates fast fashion from slow fashion. Because while fast fashion cost lesser to the consumer, there is a hidden cost, and that is being paid either by the makers or the environment.
Aslee is a tribe of risk takers and dream chasers, individuals who choose passion over practicality. We value planet health over financial health and believe that this is the mindset that will ultimately change the course that our planet is on.
In this journey to save our planet, we join hands with indigenous Himalayan communities who are involved in every step of our supply chain from harvesting to manufacturing of the fabrics. We make sure the benefits of the expansion of the tribe are passed on to the cultivators, artisans, factory workers and manufacturers in Nepal and India.
